What exactly is that?
As you have probably deduced from the name, Open Mic is an event where amateur musicians and singers get to take to the stage to showcase their talent. The more varied the style, the better the audience generally likes it, and the crowd is always extremely welcoming and supportive. Popular performances by regulars are rock, pop, rap, country, bluegrass, etc. There is usually a band performing during the break between sets. And, once everyone is done for the night, there is music “from the can” to chill or dance to. Oh, and before I forget: performers are rewarded with a free drink each!
When is this?
Open Mic is on the first Sunday of the month from 9pm until everyone is sung and played out – mostly around 1 or 2am.
